Our services

Newcomer and refugee support.

Arriving is only the beginning. Our caseworkers meet refugee and newcomer families at the airport and walk with them through housing, benefits, school enrollment, health appointments and the first job, until Siouxland feels like home.

No documents at all? Come anyway. Your caseworker will start from where you are.

Questions

Questions from new arrivals.

What people ask us most about this service. Ask us anything else: there is no wrong question.

Who can get help from Siouxland Immigration Services Inc.?

Anyone living in the Siouxland region of Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota, whatever their status, language or ability to pay. Our newcomer services are funded for refugees and humanitarian parolees, and we will always point you to someone who can help if we cannot.

Do newcomer services cost anything?

No. Newcomer support appointments are free. Some programs we connect you with have their own rules about who qualifies, and your caseworker will explain them before you apply.

Can someone meet us when we arrive?

For families resettling through our program, a caseworker meets you at the airport or at our office and makes sure your first nights are safe and warm. If you arrived another way, call us and we will set up a first meeting as soon as we can.

What languages do you speak?

Our staff and interpreters provide support in English, Spanish, French, Arabic and other languages, including Spanish, Somali, Arabic, Vietnamese, Karen, Swahili, French, Dari, Pashto, Ukrainian, Haitian Creole, Tigrinya and Nuer.
