Questions
Questions about classes.
What people ask us most about this service. Ask us anything else: there is no wrong question.
Do your classes cost anything?
No. Citizenship classes and community workshops are free. USCIS charges its own fee for the citizenship application, and we can tell you whether you may qualify for a reduced fee or a fee waiver.
Can you bring a workshop to our group?
Yes. Call or email us with your group's size, language and a few possible dates, and we will plan a session together at your congregation, school, library or workplace.
Which languages are classes taught in?
Workshops run in English, Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese and Karen, and we can arrange interpretation for other languages when you tell us ahead of time. Citizenship classes are taught mostly in English, because the interview is in English, with helpers who speak other languages.
Can you help if I live outside Sioux City?
Yes. Many clients meet us by phone or video, and our Storm Lake clinic runs every second Thursday. We work with families across northwest Iowa, northeast Nebraska and southeast South Dakota.
