Questions
Questions about legal help.
What people ask us most about this service. Ask us anything else: there is no wrong question.
What does a consultation cost?
Screening calls are free. A full legal consultation is $50, and we waive it for any family who cannot pay. Application fees charged by USCIS are separate, and we file fee waivers whenever you qualify.
How long will my case take?
It depends on the application and on USCIS processing times, which change often. At your consultation we look up the current published time for your form and explain each step, but we never promise a date the government controls.
Do you take immigration court cases?
We take a limited number of removal defense cases each year, chosen by need and capacity. When we cannot take a case we refer you to trusted attorneys and help you prepare for your first hearing.
I am undocumented. Is it safe to contact you?
Yes. What you tell us is confidential and protected by attorney client privilege. We do not share your information with immigration enforcement, and we will tell you honestly what options may be open to you.
